The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to run more Kisan Rail trains for the transportation of potatoes for the benefit of the farmers and transporters of the northeastern region.
Among these Kisan Rail trains, one train will run from Dhupguri to Agartala, one from Falakata to Agartala, one from Falakata to Dimapur, one from Dhupguri to New Tinsukia and another train will run from Changrabandha to Agartala for two trips each, the NFR said in a statement.
Train No. 00560 Dhupguri – Agartala Kisan Rail will run for two trips on April 11 and April 21, 2021 leaving from Dhupguri at 4-30 pm to reach Agartala at 9-00 pm on April 12 and 22 respectively.
The train will have stoppages at Salbari, Falakata, New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Guwahati, Bhanga and Dharmanagar Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.
Train No. 00561 Falakata – Agartala Kisan Rail will run for two trips on April 13 and 23 leaving from Falakata at 4-30 pm to reach Agartala at 9-00 pm on April 14 and 24 respectively.
The train will have stoppages at New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Guwahati, Bhanga and Dharmanagar Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.
Train No. 00555 Falakata – Dimapur Kisan Rail will run for two trips on April 15 and 25 leaving from Falakata at 4-30 pm to reach Dimapur at 10-00 am on April 16 and 26 respectively.
The train will have stoppages at New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon and Guwahati Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.
Train No. 00553 Dhupguri – New Tinsukia Kisan Rail will run via Bogibeel Bridge for two trips on April 17 and 30 leaving from Dhupguri at 4-30 pm to reach New Tinsukia at 2-00 pm on April 18 and 30 respectively.
The train will have stoppages at Salbari, Falakata, New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya, Rangapara North and New Sisiborgaon Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.
Train No. 00562 Changrabandha – Agartala Kisan Rail will run for two trips on April 19 and 29 leaving from Changrabandha at 4-00 pm to reach Agartala at 9-00 pm on April 20 and 30 respectively.
The train will have stoppages at Mathabhanga, New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Guwahati, Bhanga and Dharmanagar Railway Stations for loading/unloading of goods.
As per the announcement made in the Union Budget 2020-21, Indian Railways has started running Kisan Rail train services, to transport perishables and agri-product, including milk, meat and fish.
“Kisan Rails are multi-commodity, multi-consignor/consignee, multi-loading/unloading transportation solution which is aimed at providing wider market to our Kisans,” said the statement issued by Subhanan Chanda, chief public relations officer (CPRO), NFR.
Commodities which may be transported via Kisan Rail are tea, rubber, turmeric, black pepper, mustard, soybean, betel nut, oranges, pineapple, ginger, kiwi, passion fruit, chillies (green), large cardamom and other fruits & vegetables.
“The primary objective of running Kisan Rail trains is to increase the income in farm sector by connecting production centres to markets and consumption centres. It is expected that with the operation of these Kisan Rails, consignors/farmers will get benefitted,” the statement further said.
