The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has participated in the ‘Fit India Freedom Run’ initiative, supported by the Indian Railways.

The initiative has been introduced by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

This initiative, which started on August 15, will continue till October 2, 2020.

“The initiative is being taken up under the aegis of the Fit Indian Movement. NFR is also fully participating in the nationwide initiative,” Subhanan Chanda, chief public relations officer, NFR said in a statement.

‘Fit India Freedom Run’, launched on August 14 by Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju, has been conceived keeping in view the indispensable need to keep ourselves fit while maintaining social distancing. In this run, one can run/walk along a route of his/her choice, at a time that suits him/her.

One can even take breaks during such run/walk. Basically, one runs his/her own race and times his/her own pace.

“The officers and staff of NF Railway, both at HQs and the divisions are submitting reports of daily run/walk. A nodal officer has been nominated for each department,” the NFR chief PRO informed.

The N.F. Railway Sports Association (NFRSA) is actively promoting the initiative through mobile PA announcements in the Railway areas.

Daily running programme is being organized by the Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association, in which groups of NF Railway sportspersons are participating to spread awareness on the Fit India Freedom Run initiative, by running/walking with banners & posters, the CPRO informed.
