The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) general manager (GM), Sanjive Roy on Tuesday released a multicolour booklet on the initiatives taken by the NFR to further improve the safety standards.

NFR additional general manager Radhey Raman and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The Northeast Frontier Railway maintains the supply line for all the eight Northeast states, besides some important parts of Bihar and West Bengal.

The railway network of NFR passes through the ‘Chicken neck’ portion in the plains of Dooars which act as the umbilical cord of the seven states of Northeast.

So, uninterrupted movement of trains is of great importance.

Disruption of rail connectivity to this region can lead to shortage of essentials and strategic impediments.

Accordingly, safety remains the topmost priority so that this railway remains hale and hearty.

“The book released today depicts the activities carried out by the Northeast Frontier Railway to convert the unprecedented lockdown period into an opportunity to speed up maintenance works of all departments ever since the regular passenger trains stopped plying,” NFR chief public relations officer Subhanan Chanda stated.

“All the works were done with detailed planning and continuous monitoring by maintaining all COVID related protocols,” the Chanda added.

The compilation of the data related to enhancing the safety standard in this railway and designing and printing of the book was done by the public relations department of NFR during the lockdown period, he further said.

“This shows that the adversities due to pandemic situation have not been able to affect the morale of officials and they continued to work as a team,” the NFR CPRO claimed.
