But the possibility of a coalition government by the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) in Karnataka with the BJP failing to get sufficient number of seats needed to form government dampened all the preparations of the State BJP for the celebration.

However, the State BJP leaders shared the sweets among themselves in the State party headquarters.

After the declaration of the poll results in Karanataka, out of 222 seats, the BJP won 104 seats, the Congress won 78 seats, the JD(S) won 38 seats and others won 2 seats.

State BJP President Ranjeet Kumar Dass said, “It was an unexpected performance for BJP as the party never won such huge number of seats in Karnataka Assembly election earlier. We are hopeful to begin a good journey in South India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s national President Amit Shah.”

However, Dass said, “The Congress and JD(S) were not partners before election. Since the BJP secured majority in the Assembly election, Karnataka Governor should call the BJP to form government. We are waiting for the Governor’s decision.”

Dass also said, “It would be better if we could win few more seats in Karnataka.”

He also said if the Congress and JD(U) form coalition government in Karnataka it would not be successful.

Meanwhile, as per media reports, JD (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday wrote to Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala informing him about his decision to accept the Congress’ support to form the government.

The Congress also offered support to the JD(S) to form the government after the BJP fell short of majority.

In his letter to Governor Vajubhai Vala, Kumaraswamy, whose party was in third place after the BJP and the Congress, sought an appointment with the Governor.
