The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is launching an online system for booking of unreserved railway tickets on Thursday.

This facility, which is being launched by NFR for the first time will save passenger’s time as they don’t need to wait in long queues for booking unreserved tickets.

Passengers can buy unreserved journey tickets , platform tickets and season tickets by downloading the UTS app on their smart phones.

The UTS app can be downloaded in Android, Windows and iPhone devices.

Nripen Bhattacharya, public relations officer (PRO) of NFR said, “First-time users need to sign up, while existing users can log in directly using their password. One will have to select the station from the drop down menu and use the link ‘Quick Booking’. Passengers can use R-Wallet, Paytm, Mobikwik and Freecharge to buy tickets.”

The system can be used for all unreserved tickets. Season tickets can be renewed ten days in advance but the tickets booked through UTS app cannot be cancelled.

The details of the book tickets can be saved in the smart phones and can be shown directly to the travelling ticket examiner from the phone itself.
