Guwahati: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024 conducted for admission to undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions.
The exam was conducted on May 5 this year for over 24 lakh candidates in 13 languages at 4,750 different centres located in 571 cities across the country including 14 cities outside India.

Out of the 24 lakh candidates that registered for the exam, 3.28 per cent belonged to the Northeastern states. A total of 37,667 candidates from the region qualified for the exam which is 2.86 per cent of the total qualified candidates, the Union Ministry of Education said in a statement.

While Maharashtra’s Ved Sunilkumar Shende topped the NEET rankings, Rajasthan’s Prachita emerged as the female topper with a NEET rank of 1 and an overall rank of 11.

Tripura’s Chand Mallik is the lone candidate from the Northeast to appear in the top 100 qualified candidates with a NEET rank of 1 and an overall rank of 10, it said.
Altogether, 44,193 candidates from Assam appeared for the exam, of which, 21,085 qualified. As many as 3,769 candidates wrote the exam in Assamese.

While 4,998 candidates from Arunachal Pradesh appeared, 2,570 qualified. A total of 9,963 candidates from Manipur appeared and 5,859 qualified. Of the 3,815 candidates from Meghalaya who appeared for the exam, 1,837 qualified, it added.
On the other hand, a total of 2,469 candidates from Mizoram appeared, of which, 1,179 qualified. As many as 3,479 candidates from Nagaland appeared and 1,934 qualified. From Tripura, of the 5,071 candidates who appeared for the exam, 2,399 qualified.
Altogether 1,655 candidates from Sikkim appeared and 804 qualified, the statement said.
Candidates from Assam Adhiraj Kar, Anuj Agarwal and Rahul Raj Talukdar qualified with a NEET rank of 125, 172 and 186, respectively.
While Aditya Kumar from Arunachal Pradesh qualified with an NEET rank of 911, Manipur’s Nongmeikapam Rina Devi qualified with an NEET rank of 13,271. Meghalaya’s Kashish Samee qualified with a NEET rank of 3,732, Mizoram’s Jonathan C Lalhruaitluanga (1,38,862), Nagaland’s Navin Kumar (11,350) and Sikkim’s Diwash Sharma (24,774), it added.
The statement further said that the NEET (UG) being one of the most sensitive examinations, NTA made elaborate arrangements at various levels and took help from the state authorities for smooth conduct of the examination.
