NEDFi Guwahati under its CSR initiative contributed a total amount of Rs 1.30 crore to 8 Northeast states to combat the second wave of Covid19 pandemic.

The North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) Guwhati adopted the Mission Oxygen Programme for the augmentation of oxygen infrastructure in the 8 states of the Northeast region.

“NEDFi has already disbursed the fund to the 8 states of the Northeast region with a state-wise allocation of Rs. 15 lakh per state for 7 states of the region and Rs. 25 lakh for Assam, because of its larger population,” informed Ashim Kumar Das, deputy general manager, CSR Division, NEDFi in a statement.

“The fund for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura were released to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) by handing over the cheques to the respective chief ministers of the states,” Das stated.

For Meghalaya, an amount of Rs. 9 lakh was released to Chief Ministers’ Relief Fund and the balance amount of Rs. 6 lakh was distributed equally among 3 hospitals located in Shillong, he said.

The 3 hospitals are M/s Supercare Hospital & M/s Woodland Hospital, both NEDFi-assisted hospitals, and M/s Dr. H Gordon Roberts Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals of the state providing COVID 19 health services largely for the economically weaker section of the society.

Each of these hospitals was reimbursed an amount of Rs. 2 lakh against the expenditure incurred by them towards procurement of equipment like oxygen concentrators, ventilators and oxygen cylinders, the NEDFi DGM (CSR) informed.

The disbursements for the CM Relief Funds were made during the months of June and July, 2021 while for the hospitals it was released during the month of August 2021.

“The chief ministers of all the states appreciated the Mission Oxygen initiative of NEDFi and informed that the contribution will go a long way in the strengthening of oxygen infrastructures of the states,” he added.
