The Rongmei Naga Indigenous Forum of Nagaland on Sunday expressed ‘happiness’ and ‘relief’ at the historic breakthrough in Naga peace talks after 22 years of impasse.

The forum in a statement said it acknowledged the sincere and bold decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in bringing the Indo-Naga talks to an end in such a peaceful manner.

It expressed sincere gratitude to the Centre’s interlocutor and Nagaland governor R.N. Ravi for mediating between the parties.

The forum also thanked the dedication of the convenor of the working committee of seven Naga National Political Groups N. Kitovi  Zhimomi and the NSCN (IM) general secretary Th. Muivah for tirelessly pursuing the Naga political issue.

The forum acknowledged their patience and understanding that paved the way for pursuing the contentious issues post-solution.

It said it will continue to pray for success of the post-solution negotiation and wished that the Naga national leaders be bestowed wisdom and insightfulness to take the political decisions correctly without any more dissension and division.
