The Nagaland unit of NSUI on Wednesday lauded the decision of the Nagaland University to promote the semester students except those in the final semester.

Saying that several colleges have been turned in to quarantine centres, the NSUI unit appreciated the vice chancellor and the academic council of the university for taking into consideration the plea of thousands of students who are facing trepidation due to the Covid19 pandemic.

It is heartwarming to note that the Nagaland University has joined the host of other universities such as Delhi University, Pondicherry University, Goa University, Amity University, IIT Kanpur, GGP University and the universities under Maharashtra and Haryana in this regard, the NSUI unit said in a statement.

It said conducting exams in such an environment is not conducive and risks the lives of not only the students but also thousands of teachers and non-teaching staff.

The NSUI unit also requested the universities in Nagaland to take into consideration the plight of the 6th semester students and work out a mechanism without conducting exams.
