The NSCN-IM on Tuesday has clarified that it has nothing to do with the encounter between the 13th Sikh Light Infantry and unknown militants under Zeliangrong region in Noney district in Manipur on March 5 which claimed the life of an Indian Army personnel.

In a release issued by its MIP on Tuesday evening, the NSCN-IM strongly refuted what it called baseless allegation leveled against it without properly ascertaining the facts. “Such an inflammatory charge by the 13th Sikh Light Infantry is highly immature and questionable, as it comes at a time when the Nagas and Government of India are very close to finding a solution,” the release stated.

The regional authorities and all the law enforcing agencies are striving hard to maintain peace in the region by keeping law and order as their highest priority, it stated adding therefore, the involvement of the NSCN in the attack on the Indian Army is out of question.

The NSCN-IM also demanded the militant group responsible for the attack on the Indian Army to own responsibility.
