With no withdrawal of nominations for the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday, four candidates are now in fray for lone seat in Nagaland.
This was informed by Nagaland’s Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha during a media interaction in Kohima on Thursday, adding that accordingly the final list of candidates for the parliamentary election has been prepared.
The four contesting candidates of the lone parliamentary seat in the State are: Tokheho Yepthomi (NDPP), K L Chishi (INC), Hayithung Tungoe (NPP) and Dr MM Thromwa Konyak (Independent).
The CEO further said that election symbols have been allotted to the four candidates and accordingly K L Chishi has been allotted the party symbol of Hand, Hayithung Tungoe – Book, Tokheho Yepthomi – Globe and Dr MM Thromwa Konyak- Trumpet.
He said the process of printing the ballot papers will now start which will be used in EVMs. Postal ballot preparation has also been started, he added.
The ETBPS for service voters has also been finalized and that is being transmitted electronically, he further said.
On vehicle requisition, he said that more than 750 vehicles would be coming from Guwahati by April 5 or 6. He said that the overall law and order situation is quite peaceful till date. There has not been any untoward incident anywhere, he added, according to reports.
He further informed that more than 50 companies of central armed forces including IR, NAP, home guards and village guards will be deployed for the elections.
