Dimapur: Ruling National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate Chumben Murry and Congress candidate Supongmeren Jamir and his substitute candidate Nagavito filed their nomination papers to contest the April 19 election for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland at the returning officer’s office in Kohima on Tuesday.

Altogether four candidates filed their nomination to contest the election in the state so far. The last date for filing of nomination is March 28.

Earlier on March 22, Independent candidate Hayithung Tungoe Lotha filed his nomination paper for the election.

Nagaland deputy chief minister Yanthungo Patton, adviser Hekani Jakhalu Kense and other leaders accompanied the NDPP candidate to file his nomination papers while the Congress candidate and his substitute candidate were accompanied by party workers during the nomination filing process.

Scrutiny of the submitted papers will take place on March 28 followed by withdrawal of candidature by March 30.
