Nagaland’s Ao Naga Choir enthralls audience in Vienna

The Ao Naga Choir performed at the World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna, Austria recently, to promote world peace through music.

Ao Naga Choir had the audience spellbound with their exhilarating performances at the Universitätskirche and a concert at the famed Goldener Saal Musikverein together with the Vienna Boys Choir wherein the Ao Naga Choir performed pieces which showcased traditional Naga cultural heritage.

Musikverein is considered one of the finest concert halls in the world, along with Berlin’s Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Boston’s Symphony Hall.

Ao Naga Choir also attended a special Masterclass with Prof Gerald Wirth President and Artistic Director of Vienna Boys Choir at Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien also known as The University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Members of the Choir were awarded diploma by the WPCF and the United Nations and the “Angel of Peace” Award for their spirit, excellent artistic and social contribution.

The event was supported by the Austrian federal government authorities, the city government of Vienna, the Vienna Boys’ Choir, and the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, NGOs, enterprises and a series of personalities, reports The Morung Express.

The Ao Naga Choir has also been invited to be a part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Astana by the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Republican Public Association of Kazakhstan’s Choir Conductors for a major music festival “Astana – Voice of the World”.

On October 10-11 this year, 500 singers representing five continents from 20 states – the USA, South Africa, Israel, Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, China, Kazakhstan, India and others will come together at the Palace of Peace and Accord along with world famous conductors and award-winning singers-ccomposer and singer Amikaeyla Gaston, award-winning conductors Gábor Hollerung (Hungary) and Zimfira Poloz (Canada), Kazakhstan’s honored artists Beimbet Demeyuov and Gulmira Kuttybadamova, among others.
