Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan will lay the foundation stone of a medical college at Mon on February 26.

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, health minister S. Pangnyu Phom, Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi and other legislators of the state will be present on the occasion.

The programme, to be hosted at the Mon District Hospital Mon, will be chaired by Mon deputy commissioner Thavaseelan K., principal secretary to the health department Amardeep S. Bhatia will give an overview of the project.

A special song ‘Ko-eih’ by Eastory will feature in the programme.

The Central government last year approved the proposal for setting up a medical college in the Mon district.

This will be the second medical college in Nagaland after the medical college in Kohima.

The new government medical college will be set up by upgrading the District Hospital at Mon.

The medical college will fulfil the long-cherished dream of the people of Nagaland, particularly those of the eastern part of the state.
