The 8th Thanamir Apple Festival was organised on Friday by Thanamir village council in association with the Nagaland department of horticulture.
The festival was attended by several dignitaries including advisor for horticulture and border affairs Mhathung Yanthan- who was the special guest of the programme.
In his address, Yanthan urged the people to increase apple production through proper management.
He further encouraged the villagers to get involved in promoting agriculture and stated that this can benefit the village’s economic growth.
He assured full support of the horticulture department to the apple cultivators.
“#Thanamir Village in Kiphire district. What a God gifted land! Apple is grown in T backyard of every household here,” Yanthan later tweeted.
“T only place in Nagaland where Apple is grown in abundance. Was a part of the grand Apple Festival today. @Neiphiu_Rio @AlongImna @nstomar @nstomaroffice,” the tweet added.
