Nagaland students’ body declares Phek town litter-free

Nagaland’s Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) declared Phek town litter-free during its 7th phase sanitation drive-cum-declaration of litter-free zone on Saturday.

Royal Foundation School was declared the town’s first litter-free school during the event, organised by PTCSU and state forest department at clock tower in the town,

Speaking at the programme as the guest speaker, Phek additional deputy commissioner Avelu Ruho lauded the PTCSU for keeping the town clean and green.

Stating that cleanliness is the responsibility of every citizen, she urged the gathering to inculcate the habit of maintaining “physical freedom from pollutants.”

Ruho urged the PTCSU to participate in the tree plantation drive next year, in which she projected to plant 2000 cherry saplings.

Ruho also declared Royal Foundation School as the first litter-free school in Phek town and honoured it with a certificate of appreciation.

The management of Royal Foundation School stressed on cleanliness in line with the Swachh Bharat Mission and expressed gratitude to PTCSU for their involvement in keeping the town clean.

While PTCSU donated four litter bins to keep the town the clean, forest department donated one to Royal Foundation School.

Around 850 students from Christian Mission Higher Secondary School and Royal Foundation School conducted a cleanliness drive after the programme from Clock Tower to deputy commissioner’s office junction in Phek town. Assam Rifles personnel, posted in Phek town, were also present on the occasion.
