All the MLAs of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in Nagaland have decided to contribute 30 percent of their monthly salary from April for the next one year towards the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund to help in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The state Assembly, in a release, on Thursday said the legislators of the ruling coalition, comprising Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, BJP and an Independent, took the decision in response to the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contribute generously towards the fund.
This is besides the one month’s salary that all the 60 MLAs of the state have already contributed to the state health and family welfare department in March in support of the efforts of the state government to deal with the Covid-19 situation, the release said.
