The Nagaland government has announced reduction on Value Added Tax (VAT) by Rs 7 on prices of petrol and diesel.
This announcement of the Nagaland government comes just a day after the central government reduced the excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10.
The opposition-less United Democratic Alliance government in the state comprises Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, BJP and Naga People’s Front besides two independent legislators.
“Happy to announce that the Government of Nagaland has reduced VAT on diesel and petrol and other motor spirit by Rs 7/- per litre, with immediate effect,” chief minister Neiphio Rio tweeted.

Deputy chief minister Y Patton said the reduction in VAT on petrol, diesel and other motor spirits as announced by Chief Minister Rio in line with the decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a great move that deserves appreciation.
