“Once the vaccination regime is over, your immune system will be ready to deal with the Covid-19 virus in case you get infected. This is the reason we insist on vaccinating all our police personnel,” said a police official.

The Nagaland government has also issued guidelines recently in view of the spike in positive cases as the second wave of Covid-19 is raging across India at present.

This has forced many states to enforce night curfews and lockdowns to control the random spread of the virus.

Although the second wave is yet to hit the Northeastern states at full force, the Union health ministry has directed these states to enforce all Covid-19 protocols to prevent the infections from accelerating.

The Ministry of Development for North Eastern Region (DoNER) minister has sanctioned more than Rs 250 crore for augmenting healthcare facilities in the eight northeastern states for effective management of Covid-19.
