Nagaland governor PB Acharya called upon the NAMASTE states (Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, Sikkim, Tripura) to be proud of their languages and cultures and utilize the skills and knowledge that they have for development of Northeast India.

Acharya was addressing an interactive session with people from Northeast in Chennai on Sunday, PRO Raj Bhavan said in a release on Monday.

The governor asked the Northeast community in Chennai to be proud of their heritage and urged the educated and skilled people to utilize their skills and knowledge for the uplift of the community in the region.

Stating that one should not forget their mother tongue as it is the first identity of a person, he urged the Northeast people to take part in cultural events in the country to showcase their rich and colourful cultural heritage.

Acharya also encouraged the youths to take the path of entrepreneurship and become job creators instead of job seekers. He mentioned that there were various Central and state government welfare schemes which the youth could avail to start their own business.

The interactive session was attended by Northeast community members, including students and professionals, working in Chennai.
