Dimaur: Nagaland adviser to animal husbandry and veterinary services department Kazheto Kinimi said the state government is committed to bringing about a white revolution in the state in line with the National Policy on Dairy Development through mass-based organisations and cooperative societies.
Kinimi said this while inaugurating the mini dairy plant-cum-dairy farmers’ training centre at Marepkong Ward in Mokokchung on Friday.

“The small yet important step taken today would lead the way for greater development in the future as the state is yet to reach self-sufficiency in milk, egg, poultry, livestock and meat production,” he said.
The plant was set up under the National Programme for Dairy Development and constructed under the initiative of Nagaland directorate of animal husbandry and veterinary services and Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Ltd. Kohima.
Kinimi stressed that the people of the state must realise that dairy farming has great potential in Nagaland and can provide gainful employment to various sections of society. He encouraged the people, especially the younger generation, to venture into this sector, stating that the department on its part would do its best to guide and assist aspiring entrepreneurs in the sector.

Kinimi asked the dairy farmers in the districts to support and cooperate with the department. He said the physical infrastructure is made by the department but it can turn into an economic infrastructure only when both the department and the dairy farmers work hand in hand.
During the technical session of the programme, topics on fertility management of dairy cattle and quality and clean milk production were discussed.
