Dimapur: Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Sunday said empowering rural communities with skills, market access and modern infrastructure remains a key priority for the state.
In his message on the eve of Republic Day, Bhalla emphasised the need for comprehensive rural development to transform villages and improve livelihoods.
Greeting the people on the occasion, he said Republic Day is not merely a celebration of the past but a reaffirmation of the collective commitment to the ideals that define the nation.
He noted that this yearโs celebrations resonate with two significant national themes โ Vande Mataram, marking the 150th anniversary of the national song, and Atmanirbhar Bharat, reflecting the resolve for a self-reliant, prosperous and technologically empowered India.
Bhalla said Nagaland, endowed with rich biodiversity and pristine landscapes, has a crucial role to play in preserving ecological balance while pursuing people-centric and environment-friendly development.
He pointed out that expanding digital connectivity is opening new opportunities for youth, artisans, farmers and entrepreneurs, enabling them to integrate with national and global markets.
Highlighting the role of women, Bhalla said women in Nagaland have long been custodians of culture, economy and social harmony. Strengthening education, skill development and opportunities for women, he added, strengthens the nation as a whole.
The Governor also stressed the collective responsibility to nurture the talents of the stateโs youth and provide platforms for them to realise their full potential.
He said Nagalandโs unique traditions, customary laws and cultural heritage blend seamlessly with the constitutional framework of India, reinforcing the fabric of the countryโs federal democracy.
Emphasising unity in diversity, Bhalla said the stateโs diversity is not a challenge but a strength that reflects the inclusive and pluralistic spirit of the nation.
Calling for renewed commitment, he appealed for Republic Day to serve not only as a celebration but also as an opportunity to work together in harmony, respect diversity, serve the nation with sincerity and place collective good above narrow interests.
