Dimapur: Election observer for the forthcoming by-election to the 28 Koridang Assembly constituency in Nagaland’s Mokokchung district, Neeraj Shukla, on Thursday reviewed the overall scenario and preparations for the bypoll.
Shukla assessed poll preparedness at a meeting with the district administrative officer, returning officer, assistant returning officer, sector magistrates, sector commanders, police officials, magistrates of all flying squad teams, assistant expenditure observer and accounting team, control room nodal officer, media monitoring team, video surveillance team, and video viewing team at the Mokokchung DCโs conference hall.
Mokokchung DC and District Election Officer Ajit Kumar Verma gave a brief overview of the election machinery set up in the district for the smooth conduct of the election.
Senior SP Vesupra Kezo briefed the observer on the security arrangements for the election in the district.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland CEO has constituted a three-member screening committee to examine proposals related to the model code of conduct (MCC), under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.
The screening committee has been tasked with examining each proposal in light of the ECIโs existing instructions and clarifications, available in the form of the manual on the model code of conduct, the compendium of instructions on MCC, and instructions available on the ECI website.
It will submit the proposals it clears along with full details to the CEO.
