Dimapur, the commercial capital of Nagaland is gearing up to celebrate the ‘December Fest’ organized by ‘A Better Dimapur’, in collaboration with Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC).

The festival will be hosted at the at DDSC stadium in Dimapur from December 14 to 16.

The festival aims to provide opportunities to the youth and elderly persons to relax and enjoy as well as to interact with people from different parts of the world, while providing outsiders a window to explore and experience traditional Naga heritage blended with modernity.

The objectives of the fest are to bring the citizens of Dimapur together, join hands, exchange ideas and usher in a spirit of community feeling and thereby transform the city into a better place.

It is expected to be an extravaganza of traditional games, rock shows, dance performances, live shows and performances by young artistes.

Apart from the entertainment, the event will also provide platform/stalls for young and enterprising local youth to showcase their talents by offering variety of ethnic customs and mouth-watering cuisines ranging from local Naga to continental dishes.

According to the orgasnizers, the festival would start everyday at 10 am and would have various events like aero-modeling show, flower exhibition, photo exhibition, open dance, waste-to -art, face painting , Santa Claus competition and concerts in the evening, according to a report in Nagaland Post.

Traditional events like tug of war and bamboo stilt race competitions would also be part of the event, all of which had been made mandatory for colonies under DMC to part take, the report added.

The third day would be marked by live performances by various leading national and international bands in the evening.

Launched on June 1, 2017 with the objective of achieving a “cleaner, greener and a healthy Dimapur with community participation”, A Better Dimapur is the brainchild of DMC.

This project was conceived with the central idea of instilling civic sensibility among the citizens and also to imbibe a sense of social responsibility in the efforts to keep the city clean, green, healthy and hygienic.
