The Dimapur Area Ao Baptist Pastors Fellowship (DAABPF) on Wednesday said it was ‘aghast’ to know that Naga National Political Groups are collecting taxes even from Church Building Constructions.

A press statement from the DAABPF said that different groups have been levying taxes on non-local skilled workers since the Aoyim Baptist Church started its New Church Building construction with a dedicatory service on October 9, 2017.

This, ultimately adds up to the total cost of the Church building.

“The church members have painstakingly collected offerings for several years to construct the new church building. On the lookout, non-local workers are hired to do the construction works due to non-availability of local workers from whom the taxes are imposed,” the fellowship said.

After receiving this information, the DAABF called for an emergency meeting to discuss the issue.

The DAABPF termed such taxes even from the “construction of the house of God” as “against Christian testimony and biblical teaching;” and urged that such practices should be refrained from.
