The bust has been installed in the Raj Bhawan as a mark of tribute to the leader and countless Nagas who had made innumerable sacrifices during the movement for statehood.
After much bloodshed and violence in the state, the NPC led by Ao united the Naga people and held discussions with the Union government in a democratic manner.
Their efforts finally bore fruit with the signing of an agreement between NPC leaders and the union government, thereby paving the way for the formation of a separate state of Nagaland on December 1, 1963
Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio will also be present on the occasion.
