Dimapur: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has announced a comprehensive package of exclusive fellowships and scholarships for 50 deserving students from Nagaland as part of its student-centric outreach and educational empowerment initiative in the state.
Making the announcement at a press conference here on Friday, USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque said 50 students from Nagaland would be selected for various categories of financial assistance based on their academic merit under the scheme.
The initiative is aimed at supporting meritorious, deserving, and economically disadvantaged students of the state in pursuing higher education.
Of the 50 students, he said, 10 outstanding students with exceptional results in their qualifying examinations, particularly state toppers and high achievers, would be awarded full scholarships covering their academic fees.
Another 15 students will be granted a 50% tuition fee waiver, while 25 students will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 2,000 to support their educational expenses, Hoque added.
He said talented applicants from Nagaland may avail themselves of the scholarship scheme to pursue higher education at USTM without financial constraints.
Hoque said applicants who secure a minimum of 80% marks in their qualifying examinations and fulfil the prescribed selection criteria of the university would be eligible to avail themselves of the scholarships.
Meanwhile, USTM will organise the Institutional Excellence Award 2026, a lecture on โNEP 2020 & Career Opportunitiesโ, and a felicitation programme for Nagaland Board of School Education HSSLC Top Achievers 2026 at the Dimapur Town Hall on Saturday.
Nagaland’s Higher Education and Tourism Minister will attend the event as the chief guest.
