Dimapur Police arrested one person from Fazilka district in Punjab in connection with the creation of a fake Facebook account of Nagaland MLA, Tovihoto Aye.

It has been alleged that the person, identified as Sunil Kumar (26), was fraudulently demanding online financial help from various people.

Tovihoto Aye is the adviser to the power department of Nagaland.

Through this fake Facebook account, multiple requests were made for online financial help from various people after fraudulently posting certain bank account numbers, Dimapur police said in a release on Saturday.

The identity of the arrested person was established after the conduct of certain technical analysis on the fake Facebook page under the supervision of Dimapur deputy commissioner of police Zone-II, the release stated.

Subsequently, a three-member Dimapur police team arrested the accused from Sito Gunno village in Fazilka district with the assistance of Punjab Police.

The arrested accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and IT Act under the Sub-Urban police station at Dimapur.
