Madhya Pradesh Nagaland tour
The visit aimed to foster unity, mutual understanding, and national integration through the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme of Samagra Shiksha.

Dimapur: A Samagra Shiksha delegation from Madhya Pradesh completed a four-day cultural and educational exchange tour in Nagaland on Thursday.

The visit aimed to foster unity, mutual understanding, and national integration through the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme of Samagra Shiksha.

The delegation, consisting of 28 students and seven officials, upon arrival in Kohima on November 24, was provided an orientation on the regionโ€™s cultural landscape, educational priorities, and the broader objectives of the EBSB initiative by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.

This set the tone for an immersive tour designed to give the students firsthand exposure to Nagalandโ€™s heritage, traditions, and academic environment.

The delegation visited several key historical and cultural landmarks that highlight Nagalandโ€™s distinct identity.

One of the major highlights of the tour was the visit to Khonoma village, celebrated as Asiaโ€™s first โ€œGreen Village,โ€ where students learned about the Angami communityโ€™s pioneering conservation practices, traditional agricultural systems, and the villageโ€™s remarkable efforts in wildlife protection.

Engaging with local youth leaders and eco-guides helped the visitors understand how indigenous practices continue to shape sustainable living in Nagaland.

The team also explored the Nagaland State Museum, where a wide array of traditional artefacts, tribal costumes, tools, and historical exhibits offered a comprehensive glimpse into the stateโ€™s diverse cultural fabric.

This was followed by a visit to the iconic Kohima Cathedral Church, admired for its architectural beauty and tranquil setting, where the students gained insight into the regionโ€™s spiritual and cultural evolution.

A key component of the tour was the interaction with local schools on November 26, enabling students from both states to engage in meaningful peer learning.

In addition to cultural and educational exposure, the delegation also visited the Kohima War Cemetery, where they paid respects to the soldiers who lost their lives during the Battle of Kohima.

The solemn visit provided a valuable historical reflection, deepening the studentsโ€™ understanding of Nagalandโ€™s significance in global wartime history.

Before their departure on Thursday, the team visited the Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre in Dimapur, known for its bamboo innovation initiatives, skill development programmes, and promotion of sustainable livelihoods.
