The Department of Information Technology and Communication (IT&C) vof Nagaland has taken up a special drive to clean up unwanted information and communication related accessories such as telephone wires, telephone posts, TV cables, overhead OFC cables etc in the state capital of Kohima in view of the festive season.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, K D Vizo, commissioner and secretary ITS, said a co-ordination meeting has been conducted with all the various stakeholders and a concrete action plan has been drawn for completion before November 15 next.
According to the action plan, all telephone overhead wires hanging along the main road in the state capital would be removed by BSNL.
All TV cable operators and telecom service providers would also remove all kinds of overhead cables hanging along the main road and relocate them to appropriate locations.
All the related information where immediate action is required will be collected and shared through various medium of electronic communications under the banner of ‘Info-Clean Kohima’ and there will be a weekly co-ordination meeting to review and monitor the progress of the works.
All telecom service providers have been requested to improve their respective mobile services during the festive season.
Meanwhile, the department has requested all the citizens of Kohima town to extend their cooperation in this endeavour.
