The fresh returnees from Peren, Mon and Longleng districts in Nagaland will be hosted and quarantined in Dimapur from now on.
This was decided at a meeting on Wednesday, convened by Nagaland agriculture production commissioner Y. Kikheto Sema, who is also in-charge of Dimapur district for Covid19 activities.
The meeting was also attended by the nodal officers of all the districts of the state and the convenors of accommodations, transport and food committee of Team Dimapur.
The meeting was held to review and listen to the views and suggestions of all the district nodal officers in order to continue to work together with a holistic approach in the fight against the pandemic.
Sema said the fresh returnees hailing from Peren, Mon and Longleng districts would now be hosted and quarantined in Dimapur as per the request made by the concerned districts and also on the direction of the high-powered committee.
Some nodal officers briefed the meeting about the problems being faced by some of the returnees who are not being allowed to stay in some colonies in Dimapur after completing their quarantine period.
In this regard, it was decided that after the returnees complete their quarantine period and are officially released by the respective quarantine centres with a certificate, it will be the responsibility of their parents/relatives to take care of them.
The meeting said the community should appreciate the government for bringing back their children from different parts of the country, feeding them, undertaking their test and quarantining them.
The government or the frontline workers should not be troubled as far as issue of reaching their homes or native places by the quarantinees are concerned after their release from the quarantine centres, it stressed.
Sema wondered that the frontline workers received no appreciation from the parents of the returnees till date.
Member of the empowered committee on the pandemic Honje Konyak urged all the nodal officers to work in coordination and also asked them to bring to the notice of Team Dimapur if they face any problem.
