Nagaland’s Dimapur Airport will be connected to three new cities – Dibrugarh, Guwahati and Imphal under Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme.
The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has selected two major airlines of the country, InterGlobe and Alliance Air , as the operators for these routes.

InterGlobe has been selected as the airline operator for Dimapur-Dibrugarh and Alliance Air has been selected for the Dimapur-Imphal and Dimapur-Guwahati routes.
As per a notification from the Union Civil Aviation Ministry, the routes will start operating from April 1.
Two kinds of routes, as proposed by the Ministry of Tourism, were made available to the airlines – unserved routes connecting unserved or underserved airports and unserved routes connecting served airports.

The Union Civil Aviation Ministry in coordination with the Union Ministry of Tourism has combined several routes in the northeast together with beautiful tourism sites under UDAN scheme.
Currently, 16 unserved airports, 17 underserved airports, six water aerodromes and 50 served airports, totalling 89 airports, will be connected on the basis of 73 proposals.
The UDAN scheme is a key component of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP) which aims at making air travel affordable and comfortable and development of the aviation sector of India.
