Nagaland Governor, R N Ravi on Sunday extended Christmas greetings and best wishes to the people of Nagaland.

In a message, the Governor said, “On this auspicious occasion, we celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, who gave us the valuable and eternal message of peace, tolerance, compassion, love and brotherhood.”

“Let us rededicate ourselves to live together in harmony and work for building a glorious new Nagaland,” he added.

“As we enter a New Year, let 2020 bring peace and prosperity to every person and harmony among all the people of the State,” he reiterated.

A pre-Christmas celebration took place on Sunday evening at Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Kohima.

Among the many highlights, lighting of Christmas candles by Governor of Nagaland and Meghalaya, R N Ravi and the chief minister, Neiphiu Rio while wife of the Governor Laxmi Ravi and wife of Chief Minister Kaisa Rio cut the Christmas cake.

The advent of Christmas celebration was followed by dinner hosted by the Governor and his wife.

Meanwhile, conveying Christmas greeting, Naga Hoho on Sunday stated that Christmas is a time of sharing ‘our love with one another’.

“Therefore, let us forgive and forget in the true spirit of Christ. As our almighty God has sacrificed His one and only Son, so that mankind will have a peaceful eternal life,” K Elu Ndang, general secretary, Naga Hoho said in a message.

The Hoho also wished, “May this season brings love, joy and peace into every hearts and homes and celebrate in the real spirit of Christmas.”

“Let this Christmas be a time of fulfilling our promises, manifesting our love and searching Christ in our hearts,”it added.

The Naga National Council (NNC) under the leadership of Yilow Humtsoe, Zhiongba Yimchungru and V Nagi also conveyed Christmas greetings to all.

In a message it stated, “May the prince of peace bless each and every Naga people in the homeland to have a peaceful and joyous Christmas.”

“We also remind the national workers to unite in the name of the prince of peace for our future freedom,” it added.

“May the Good lord help and strengthen our people to stand together for the peace of our homeland in days to come,” the NNC stated.

“We also wish each and everyone a very happy new year 2020 as we march ahead with our people’s hope and desires for peace in the Homeland,” the greeting note stated while praying that “may God bless Nagaland abundantly.”

The Advisor of Power, Government of Nagaland Tovihoto Ayemi, in his message extended warm Christmas greetings to the people of Dimapur.

“Let the celebration of birth of the Prince of Peace be reflected in every home with cheer and happiness,” he said.

During this festive season, Tovihoto also ‘appealed everyone to maintain a peaceful atmosphere and let harmonious existence continue to ring loud and clear in our society’.

He also wished everyone a wonderful Christmas and a New Year filled with love, joy and prosperity.
