Ahead of the final agreement between the Centre and Naga groups including NSCN(IM), Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat met Nagaland governor R.N. Ravi at Kohima on Thursday.
According to reports, the chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Rawat and governor Ravi, who is also the Naga peace interlocutor, had discussions on the security situation.
During his meeting with the Nagaland governor, General Rawat was accompanied by the Army Commander of the Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Anil Chauhan.
The Army chief also met senior military officers and the chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG).
Informing about the Army chief meeting the Nagaland governor, the Eastern Command of the Army tweeted: “Gen Bipin Rawat, COAS called on the Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland on 07 Nov accompanied by Army Commander, EC. He also met Senior Military officers & Chairman, CFMG.”

The Army chief also visited the Spear Corps along with the Army Commander of the Eastern Command.
Eastern Command of the Army while sharing a few pictures of General Rawat’s visit to Spear Corps stated: “Gen Bipin Rawat, COAS visits Spear Corps on Nov 7 accompanied by Army Commander, EC.”
“The COAS during his visit exhorted officers and men to continue working for the cause of the organization,” it added.

As per reports, the security situation in the hinterland along the borders and a possible way ahead were discussed during the visit.
