Nagaland on Thursday reported five Covid-19 deaths and 76 fresh positive cases.

With this the total number of positive cases has reached 24,041 and the total death stands at 452.

The state also registered 398 recoveries during the day, the Nagaland health and family welfare department said in its update.

Of the new cases, Dimapur recorded 14, Kiphire 2, Kohima 29, Mokokchung 9, Mon 2, Peren 11, Phek 3, Tuensang 4, Wokha 1 and Zunheboto 1.

There will be a total ban on movement of individuals and vehicles from 4 pm to 5 am across the state from June 19, except for reasons/purposes and for those who are permitted to move as per the existing lock down measures, Nagaland chief secretary J Alam said in a notification

The state government has also empowered the District Task Force to take additional stricter measures in their respective districts such measures are needed for containing the spread of Covid-19.

The high-powered committee on Covid-19 has decided to extend the ongoing lockdown till June 30 after reviewing the situation in the state.

It observed that the positivity rate of Covid-19 continues to remain high, above 5 per cent in all the districts, warranting the need for taking adequate measures for preventing the spread of the virus.

The current lockdown was to end on June 18.
