In a bizarre outcome of the amended Motor Vehicles Act in the country, a truck bearing Nagaland registration was fined a whopping Rs 86,500 in Odisha.
The challan issued to to the truck driver identified as one Ashok Jadav, of the truck bearing registration number NL01 G1470, has gone viral on social media on Saturday.
However, according to reports, the matter was settled in Rs 70,000, after the driver produced some documents.
The truck was then released on September 6 after Ashok paid the penalty.
According to reports, Ashok was fined for allowing an unauthorized person to drive without a licence, overloading and carrying over dimension projections and a general offence.
The officials of the Sambalpur RTO intercepted the truck while it was en route to Chhattisgarh from Talcher of Angul district.
The truck, which belonged to a Nagaland-based company BLA Infrastructure Private Limited, was loaded with a JCB machine.
