The Dimapur commissioner of police Limasunep on June 11 inaugurated a library for the jail inmates at Dimapur District Jail in Nagaland under ‘Project Paper Bridge’ initiative by KAL Group, Legal Practitioner and Consultancy firm in collaboration with Sarvahitey, a Delhi based NGO.

While lauding the initiative of the group of young lawyers, Limasunep said that reading values would help the inmates in reformation and rehabilitation.

“Setting up of the library would also benefit the society along with the jail inmates,” said the commissioner.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarvahitey co-founder Prem Prakash highlighted the purpose of the project and said, “The chain of libraries will culturally unify the whole country.”

The Dimapur district jail got the first library of its kind in the state and the third library under the project.

As per reports, Sarvahitey in collaboration with KAL Group plans to open many more libraries in Nagaland over a period of next 18 months.

A total of 1,000 libraries will be opened all across India under this project, out of which 100 will be in the North East.
