The BJP legislators of Nagaland have decided to contribute one month’s salary to the people affected by rains and landslides in the state. Other legislators of the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance legislators have also announced to contribute one month’s salary to the affected people.
The state BJP has written a letter to the national BJP president Amit Shah seeking central relief to the state.

In the letter, state party president Temjen Imna Along, who is also a minister, said there has been a worst-hit natural calamity in Nagaland with landslides, mudslides and sinking of land continuing to pose serious threat to the people.
Despite the best efforts of the state government machineries in combating the calamities under the present situation and given the magnitude of the calamities, the state government was unable to address the issues due to its limited resources, inadequate machines equipments and expertise, Along stated.
He requested the national BJP authority to do the needful at the central level.

The party also appreciated the Central team, consisting of 35 rescuers from National Disaster Response Force, deployed in Nagaland to assist the state administration in the relief and rescue measures, distribution of essential materials and providing medical support to the affected people and also two Air Force helicopters deployed for the purpose.
The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party has announced to carry out a statewide fund drive from all rank and file of the party to contribute towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help in the relief and rehabilitation of those people affected by the natural calamities.
Stating that all party workers were giving donations, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio appealed to all government servants to contribute voluntarily to help the government deal with the disaster.
