Silent peace rally in Kaliabor. Northeast Now

Students of Kailabor College in Nagaon district took out a silent peace rally on Monday in protest against the mob lynching of two artistes from Guwahati – Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath – on June 8, 2018 at Panjuri village under Dokmoka PS in Karbi Anglong district.

The student protestors demanded exemplary punishment of the culprits involved in the brutal murder of the two youths suspecting them as ‘child lifters’.

Both the artistes – Das and Nath – were on a day’s vacation to Karbi Anglong.

The participants also displayed placards conveying peace messages during the rally.

The students also submitted a memorandum, which was addressed to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, before the Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) demanding exemplary punishment of the culprits.

In Sivasagar district, the Asomiya Yuba Mancha along with AATTSU and other locals lit candles mourning the demise of the two youths on Sunday evening.
