In the recent Lok Sabha polls, the ZPM forged an alliance with the Congress and together backed independent candidate Lalnghinglova Hmar. But the alliance suffered a humiliating defeat in the hands of the MNF. MNF candidate C. Lalrosanga won the Lok Sabha seat by a margin of over 8,000 votes.

The ZPM was initially formed by three parties – Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP), MPC and Zoram Exodus Movement (ZEM) in August, 2017.

Later, Mizoram People’s Party (MPP), Zoram Reformation Front (ZRF) and Zoram Democratic Front (ZDF) joined the ZPM banner.
