Mizoram on Friday reported one more Covid19 death as a 47-year-old woman succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College and Hospital near Aizawl, an official said.
With this, the Covid19 death toll in Mizoram now stands at 18.
The victim was diagnosed with Covid19 at Lengpui Airport on May 3, the official said.
She was immediately rushed to Zoram Medical College and Hospital after she tested positive for Covid19and was undergoing treatment in the hospital.
She was also suffering from liver cancer, the official said.
The patient died around 8 am on Friday.
Mizoram on Friday reported 184 new Covid19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 7,147.
The number of active cases now stands at 1,778 while 5,351 people have been discharged after their recovery from the disease.
Meanwhile, the Aizawl district administration on Thursday declared five localities within Aizawl as containment zones to prevent further spread of the infection.
In the last 24 hours, India reported 3,915 more COVID19 deaths and 4,14,188 new positive cases.
According to the Union health ministry data, country’s death toll increased to 2,34,083 on Friday.
With the new cases, India’s COVID19 tally rose to 2,14,91,598.
In the last 24 hours, 3,31,507 patients were discharged after their recovery from the disease.
A total of 1,76,12,351 people have recovered from the disease across the country so far.
India’s recovery rate stands at 81.95% while the death rate is 1.09%.
