All the opposition parties of Mizoram, with exception of Mizo National Front (MNF) has appealed to the Central Government to look into the manner in which the New Land Use Policy (NLUP) is being implemented by the Congress led government in the State.
The opposition parties had submitted a joint memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently expressing their displeasure over the way the Mizoram Government was implementing the flagship programme.
The united opposition has termed the way Lal Thanhawla was implementing the NLUP as ‘election oriented’.
The president of Mizoram unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Prof J V Hluna has alleged that the Chief Minister has recently allotted Rs 400 crore to 34 ruling Congress legislators for selection of beneficiaries under NLUP programme.
The opposition parties have also alleged that the opposition legislators were not allotted any fund for the same.
The opposition parties have alleged that the Congress led government is misusing the programme keeping in mind the ensuing Assembly elections in the State to be held later this year.
However, a defiant Lal Thanhawla has said that he will continue with the NLUP programme as ‘it is the main contributing factor’ to the economic growth of the State.
The State Chief Minister was of the opinion that the opposition parties, particularly the BJP is unable to digest the immense success of the NLUP programme.
