At least 3 persons, including a Myanmar national, were arrested for possessing over 888 grams of drugs, identified as heroin, worth Rs 25.20 lakh during operations at differents places in Mizoram.

Officials of the Mizoram excise and narcotics department and personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) seized over 808 grams of heroin and an individual was arrested during a joint operation in Kolasib district on October 22, the excise department said in a statement.

The joint operation was carried out at North Chhimluang village along the National Highway-306 on specific information, the statement said.

A drug peddler, identified as Ramneihthanga (47), a resident of Vairengte village in Kolasib district, has been arrested for possessing the contraband worth Rs. 22.75 lakh, it said.

On Saturday, the excise department seized 22 grams of heroin at Aizawl’s Hunthar locality and arrested an individual identified as Lalrindika (28), a resident of Bethel veng in Champhai district for possessing the contraband worth Rs. 70,000, the statement said.

In another seizure, the department also seized 58.7 grams of heroin near Zote village in Champhai district on Sunday.
A drug peddler identified as Gawihsianvungi (39), a resident of Myanmar has been arrested for possessing the contraband worth Rs 1.75 lakh.

The three accused were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, the statement said.
