Mizo National Front (MNF) Legislature Party leader Manghmunga Chinzah has been sworn in as the new chief executive member (CEM) of Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) in Mizoram.

Lawngtlai district deputy commissioner administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chinzah on Monday.

Lallawmsanga Apetow has also been appointed as protem chairman during a swearing-in ceremony held at the council secretariat.

The protem chairman administered the oath of affirmation to the newly elected members.

Chinzah said he will establish a transparent government and that his government would make massive efforts to usher in development in the LADC area.

He also sought cooperation from the people and staff of the council to expedite the development process in the council area.

A senior politician, Chinzah has been elected as a member of LADC for seven consecutive times.

In the LADC polls held on December 4, the ruling MNF won a majority by winning 20 out of 25 seats, while BJP and Congress bagged one each along with three independent candidates.
