The Mizoram Government has contributed financial aid of Rs 2 crore towards disaster relief efforts in flood-affected Kerala.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla on Tuesday wrote to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressing his solidarity with the people of flood-affected Kerala and informed him about the Mizoram Government’s contribution towards the relief efforts in the southern State.

The Mizoram Chief Minister in a separate letter also informed the Kerala Chief Minister that all 34 MLAs of the Indian National Congress in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly have contributed Rs 1 lakh each (total Rs 34 lakh), in the hope that it may alleviate a small portion of the immense hardships currently faced by the people of Kerala.

Earlier, the Governments of other northern States including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura have also extended financial aid for flood-hit Kerala.

The Assam Government on Sunday donated Rs 3 crore financial assistance for the relief activities in flood-ravaged Kerala.

The death toll due to the devastating rains and floods in Kerala increased to 370, as two more deaths were reported on Sunday with rescue operations continuing in the worst affected districts of Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur.

Arunachal Pradesh joined the other northeastern States in extending all possible help and support to the relief activities in Kerala.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced Rs 3 crore as immediate assistance from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the Kerala flood.

In a tweet, Khandu said that the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala have a very strong bond since long. In this trying time, “we are with the families of all the victims of the flood”.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh-led BJP Government also donated a sum of Rs 2 crore as relief funds to the flooded-affected State of Kerala.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has also announced Rs 1 crore to Kerala disaster relief fund.

Tripura’s BJP-led coalition Government also announced to donate relief fund of Rs 1 crore for flood-hit Kerala.
