Mizoram’s total Covid19 positive count reached 13,064 on Friday as 205 people, including over 50 children, have tested positive for the virus.

The state’s death toll has climbed to 47 as a 44-year-old man has succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Thursday night, said an official.

The victim was diagnosed with Covid19 on May 25 and had comorbidities, the official said.

The new positive cases were detected out of the test of 2,978 samples on Thursday, putting the single-day’s positivity rate at 6.88%.

Of the new cases, Aizawl district recorded the highest cases at 157, followed by Lunglei district, which reported 18 cases, the official said.

Lawngtlai district reported 17 cases, Champhai 6 while Mamit and Saitual districts reported 3 cases each and Siaha district reported 1 case.

Only one patient has a travel history while the rest 204 were found to have locally infected and the contact history of 57 patients are yet to be ascertained, according to the official.

Of the 205 patients, 110 patients have developed symptoms Covid19.

Mizoram now has 3,415 active cases while 9,602 people have recovered from the infection.

At least 108 people were discharged from various Covid Care Centres on Thursday.

The state’s total recovery rate is 73.50% and the death rate is 0.36%.

The state has tested 4,03,676 samples for Covid19 till date.

According to state immunisation officer, as many as 2,61,346 people, including 17,557 beneficiaries of 18-44 age group, have been administered the first dose of Covid19 vaccine till Thursday.

Of the 2,61,346 beneficiaries, 52,149 people have been fully vaccinated, the official further said.
