Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Tuesday inaugurated a new bailey bridge over Kawnpui River in Bairabi along the Assam-Mizoram border to facilitate transportation of essential commodities.
Inaugurating the bridge, Zoramthanga said, “It is an important bridge for transport of essential commodities for the people of Mizoram.”
The bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 365 lakh.
“The new bridge has been built as the existing bridge was weak to take load of heavy vehicles,” said CM Zoramthanga.
The new bridge has been built by Kharagpur based Essen Infrastructure Private Limited at the cost of Rs. 365 lakh.

The newly opened Bailey bridge is located along the National Highway-154.
The Mizoram Chief Minister was accompanied by State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs minister K Lalrinliana, Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs secretary Vanlalngaihsaka and PWD chief engineer Lalmuankima Henry, among others.
