Mizoram: Assam Rifles troopers seize heroin worth over Rs 57 lakh, 2 persons arrested

Heroin worth over Rs 57 lakh have been seized by the troopers of Assam Rifles from Bawngkawn Shalom area in Aizawl, Mizoram.

The seized heroin weighed 128 grams and carries a market value of Rs 57,60,000.

The contraband item was seized in a joint operation by troopers of Aizawl Battalion of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department.

2 persons have also been arrested by the Assam Rifles troopers in connection with the seizure.

“Ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border,” the Assam Rifles said.
