Champhai: In a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to curb smuggling activities, Assam Rifles recovered 240 grams of heroin valued at Rs 1.68 crore in Champhai district of Mizoram.

The operation was executed in collaboration with the Mizoram police department, based on specific intelligence inputs.

The operation led to the arrest of two individuals hailing from Aizawl and Siaha in Mizoram, who were found in possession of the illicit substance during a special area domination patrol.

The contraband and the accused were handed over to the Champhai police station in Mizoram for further legal action.

“This operation marks another success in our relentless fight against smuggling. The cooperation between Assam Rifles and the police department was pivotal in this seizure,” an Assam Rifles statement read.
