Mizoramโ€™s Sports and Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar also mourned Lalremruataโ€™s death.

Aizawl: In a tragic incident, a 38-year-old cricketer died hours after collapsing during a match on Thursday in Mizoram.

The victim has been identified as K. Lalremruata, a resident of Maubawk in Mizoram’s Aizawl, who played for Venghnuai Raiders Cricket Club (VRCC). 

The Cricket Association Mizoram (CAM) said in a statement that the victim died due to a strokeย while playing in the second division screening tournament of Khaled memorialย  being held at Suaka cricket ground in Sihhmui near Sairang railway station.Lalremruata represented Mizoram twice in the Ranji Trophyย and seven times in the Sayed Mushtaq Ali trophy, it said.ย 

He had also played for several clubs at the local level, it said. 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family; may God comfort them as they navigate this great loss,โ€ the CAM said in the statement.

Mizoramโ€™s Sports and Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar also mourned Lalremruataโ€™s death.

He said that the victim experienced breathing difficulties during the match between his team and Chawnpui ILMOV Cricket Club.
